Letting Go

Im like a relationship expert, everyone in here comes to me asking for my help and i seem to have the simplest answers that most of them can complicate. I read a lot of Buddhist material and there's something wonderfully fulfilling about the art of letting go. "You can only do what you can do" Dont let that sound so cryptic because its not. It all comes down to what you can handle and knowing in your heart whats exceptable and what isn't. Sometimes certain relationships run their course and they are just done. Dont be sad about it but dont keep trying to float a boat with more holes than you can plug with your fingers.... things come to an end. Also having a kid will not solve your problems, would you take your kid for a ride in a boats that leaks and is sinking?...Its the same thing!

If the boat has no holes and is "safe" try things his way and see where it takes you. You normally wont go anywhere in life with two competing captains right? Let him steer and see if you like where you end up and if not, ask him if you guys can do it your way, or dock the boat and walk the fuck away...lol...Dueces, ahahahaha

Shadows...

Today i felt like i was a shadow in the early evening, during that in between time where its starting to get dark and im trying my hardest not to vanish & fade away...I felt this way after talking to my cousin and i hate asking for help or for anything for that matter but the squeeky wheel gets the oil, (says Dave) so i asked him to send me some magazines and pics because i feel like im losing contact with the world and im trying my hardest to stay relevant...I put some sunshine away and every once in a while i will bring some out but at the same time...Times running out...

Theres hope for everyone...

Do you ever notice how some people seem so gifted or smarter?

Well heres the difference between them and yourself.

It takes 17 repetitions to teach anyone anything (provided they have any interest at all in the subject).

A smart person maybe 1-3 repetitions.

An average person 4-8.

And an even not so smart person 17 or less repetitions.

Personally im probably around 10...lol...(Yah im in the dumb class) and im okay with that, and that just means

others such as myself just gotta work a little harder and be more diligent when we want to be good at something.

For myself 7 more repetitions is well worth it. So next time you see that person skating, surfing, training and they seem waaaay better than you, just take the time out and do it 17 more times than them (this should even it up...lol)...This was told to me by my Jewish friend Cadillac Ron

Here he is in the pic with me.
This is my friend Ron Rakow aka "Cadillac Ron" simply because he's the Cadillac of individuals meaning he's straight classic! If you're wondering who is this older dude hanging out with P.Kaes ???
He's the original manager & financial backer of the GRATEFUL DEAD and a millionaire many time over from the publishing rights & merch/music...I'm Happy to stay along with his great party stories & LSD marathons....He's very business minded and I picked up some very good tips on making money and life......Aloha!

Thought For The Day...

"He lawai'a no ke kai papa'u, he pokole ke aho; he lawai'a no ke kai hohonu he loa ke aho." (Olelo No'eau)
~Translation: A fisherman of shallow seas uses only a short line; a fisherman of the deep sea uses a long line.

**Explanation: "You will reach only as far as you aim and prepare yourself to reach."

Time Travel

I seem to catch myself daydreaming about being able to time travel lately. Its not that i wanna go back and change things in my past because I'm comfortable with all my decisions I've made in life and NOOOOO i wouldn't even change things that coulda kept me from coming to prison, as strange as this sounds i love my time locked up and its loved me back. We (prison & myself) have a strange relationship, we evolved and like almost all relationships there will come a day when we will say goodbye and go our separate ways.It will have been a wonderful section of my life that gave me a chance to meet a lot of solid, selfless, true friends that made me stronger, smarter and more complete. I hope i have been able to leave a positive effect or impression on them. But back to the time travel thing----> Is it hardships that make us grow as individuals?

When we face adversity and tough times we learn to react a certain way and this to me is where my stronger traits came from.

Am I the only one?

Honestly i think I'm cool on the adversity and tough times though...lol...Im ready to just cruise...Then again i love the grind!

Allow me to re-introduce myself, my name is...

Im often reffered to as that new kid/guy. I've got an awkward demeanor that makes me standout and i guess sometimes to some people that could be intimidating. Im quiet until im comfortable, then im goofy as hell and one left turn away from a trainwreck, go figure!

I like putting things together, project managing, building, creating, destroting (just not relationships, although some of my ex's will tell you differently but only half of its true)...lol

Life put me on the path of a starving artist (again).

I been wrapped up in this federal prison sentence since 4-20-2007 but on November 20th of this year
I will be out of the federal bureau of prisons custody and a free man on the streets again. Rather than talk about myself im gonna reach out and ask some old friends & aquantainces to speak on my behalf and share a story of our friendship.

If we met in prison and you got out before me just talk some story on here and let people know whats up.
After proof reading this it sounds kinda creepy like its some kinda former life eulogy but oh well.

Love and Aloha always

Here Back At Camp...

So here is the latest and the greatest with this Nazi camp im living in. So they say they found tobacco in one of the closets in both the units but nobody saw it?...Did it really happen or was that just an excuse to make life in here harder then it is, especially if your not from the area and don't get any visits. Now were not allowed to cook food because they took the microwaves out and we have to eat the food we already bought raw, its raining outside and they took all the t.v's and even locked part of the chapel up. This is the only place ive been that gets away with this type of shit, it totally violates our rights and privileges as inmates but we cant get anyone to look into this from an outside agency...BLEH!...Whos the real criminals? And just because someone made a mistake do these people have the right to keep taking what little we do have?

Keoni “Painkillers” Payton

Keoni “Painkillers” Payton

1. Who you are?
PK: Keoni “Painkillers” Payton Or “P.Kaes”

2. Where and when did you start painting, throwing up, bombing
PK: My grandma said when I was a baby I took my diaper off and smashed the contents all over the walls. I guess not much has changed because I still like taking off my pants and i still like throwing shit up on walls, ahahahahahaha

3. Inspirations in the past and currently
PK: my grandparents definitely sparked that fire then my D.F.A & A.N homies fed it but it wasn’t till recently when I saw Aaron “Woebot” Martin doing his thing did I realize you can actually eat off of this plate called “art.” I mean I knew people could get paid doing it but he’s one of the homies, we came up together in the graf scene (A.N) so until then, making money doing it- was just like a myth. In fact now, I’m watching my boys Billy Whitney and Libra kill it in the tattoo scene making almost as much money as me when I was hustling. The only difference is they’re FREE I am not, Ahahahahahaha I’m cool with being locked up because I still got there love and support. (so if you’re reading this “thank you” guys)

4. Why did you decide on your unique way of painting on newspapers?
PK: I saw this sick Artist in Contrast Magazine (Ben Horton) who use newsprints in the background of one of his pieces. I thought maybe I could try using the whole thing as my canvas, It’s free (I’m in Prison) And I make $5.25 a month, just enough for 2 x 15 minute phone calls home to Hawai’i) The other reasons started clicking on why this makes sense to use the news prints. It’s a cool way to follow my evolution and current events in the world when it was created. I also try to use only papers with the mailing tag on of what prison I was housed at and what area I was in when it was made. It makes all my pieces unique in the sense that once I transfer prisons I can no longer make or duplicate a piece with that tag on it ever again, kind of like a limited edition canvases. I did get a couple of requests from homies in Hawaii that wanted to send me a Hawai’i newspaper to paint on and even though I could really use the money I had to decline because when you see one of my pieces done on a Hawaii newspaper That means I’m finally HOME!

5. How hard is it to actually paint where you ?
PK: It’s Fkn hard!!!…They only sell ball point pens and pencils in the commissary (prison store) So everything else was hustled. Like if a homeboy had some sharpies I would have to trade him my hot (food) for lunch and dinner for those pens. (I really am that starving artists…haha) A few times I did some portraits with pencils and Qtips for shading for the use of brushes and left over paints, that was actually my jump off point for paints/acrylic. my cousin Ola who owns “Fitted” in Hawai’i actually has my first newsprint done in sharpie and ball point pen. I told him one day when I make it as an artist/designer or whatever I’m going to buy it back off him. However, he said he wouldn’t sell it but this recession got everyone’s buggin and scraping for money so who knows?…lol

6. Why not branch out into other themes or ideas?
PK: I’m not so worried or even concerned with branching out, I’m more “the roots need water like kids need laughter” type of person. If it feels good and that’s where life is taking me then lets fkn roll. It just gotta feel right on some level whether it means something or it’s just funny and it can make a person laugh. Visual PAINKILLER!

7. Inspirational artists (street, urban, etc) ?PK: Chino from the deftones, Warhol, East, The Akua Nui Kilo’s, my grandpa Don, I’m inspired by straight up people, they don’t even gotta be artists. Deep girls, shallow girls, girls in general just bring out a myriad of emotions out in me. Then there’s the people that like my stuff, that’s pretty inspiring too…WAIT!…People that don’t like my stuff and say negative shit about it might even inspire me the most (as weird as that may sound)

8. What does “The Pineapple Clan represent?
A collective culture where individuals indentify with each other,
maybe thru music -maybe thru art -maybe thru fashion
maybe thru culture-Always in positive energy!
Its a feel good movement, a militia of life lovers whos primary weapon is whatever they create…

Spread Aloha not germs!

Go Auburn

So today is the Oregon ducks game and im not sure if that has anything to do with them locking us in our housing unit all day because they wanna cook and prepare a party for the game tonight, whats more disturbing is i wonder if the Buereau of prisons allows it and why the fuck should these staff get paid big bucks from the publics tax dollars to watch a football game?

GO AUBURN!...Ahahahahahahaha

Aloha Andy Irons

I just read the latest transworld tribute to the late Andy Irons and its still very sad and tragic, almost like it happened yesterday. Please stay posted for a painting im gonna start of Andy for his daughters first birthday. It might kinda sound weird but i found alot of inspiration in his career and his character and although i didnt know Andy personally his life force and energy touched me immensely. I would like to do a painting for his wife and daughter to hang in their house as a friendly reminder for them to know how her dad/husband inspired many people from hawaii like myself. I love ALL things hawaii and he was and always will be a very big part of that aloha spirit we have. Does anyone know how or who i can give it to so they'll get it?...Hit me back with any leads please.
